Navy Squash Opens Homestand with 8-1 Win Over Dickinson

The 15th-ranked Navy squash team (10-0) ran its winning streak to 10 in a row Wednesday evening at the Prager Family Squash Facility in Annapolis, Md. with an 8-1 victory over No. 27 Dickinson (2-4). The match marked both teams' Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference opener.

Match Highlights
• Seven of Navy's 8 wins on the evening were by way of a 3-0 sweep with only Dickinson senior Joe Smythe pushing Wenqing Tang (So / Villanova, Pa.) to a fifth game in the final match of the evening at the No. 1 position. Tang won the first-two games 11-9 and 11-7 before Smythe rallied to take games three (11-5) and four (11-9). Smythe was up 8-7 in the fifth game when he collided with Tang and was forced to retire, giving the win to Tang.
• Navy's lone loss in the match was at the No. 4 spot with Dickinson sophomore Owen Buroker topping rookie Andrew Ko (Fr / Sykesville, Md.) in four games. Ko opened with an 11-6 win, but Buroker evened the match with and 11-9 victory in game two. Buroker went on to capture the victory with 11-5 and 11-8 wins in the third and fourth.
• Team captain Alexander Orr (Sr / Haverford, Pa.) became the 25th player in program history to reach the 60-win milestone after defeating William Krizek, 11-6, 12-10, 11-7. Orr is now tied with Tommy McNamara (2008-11) and Owen Davis (2016-20) for 23rd on Navy's all-time wins list. He needs two more wins to tie Gavin Morrison (62-42 / 2001-05) for 22nd on the list.
• Wednesday night's match marked the first time this season Navy has played its full ladder from top to bottom now that Christian Graziano (Fr / Greenwich, Conn.) has returned to the lineup full time.
• With the win, Navy is now 16-3 all-time against the Red Devils and has won four in a row in the series.
