ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's swimming and diving team strengthened its hold on first place while the women's team jumped up from third place to within striking range of first-place Villanova, Friday at the Navy Invitational at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis.

The men's team qualified at least four swimmers for the 10-lane championship final in each of the five individual events contested on the middle day of the three-day meet as the Mids increased their point total of 1,542 points and their advantage over second-place UC Santa Barbara to over 600 points.
