Navy Squash Plays Final Matches of 2025 Calendar Year on the Road

The 15th-ranked Navy squash team (12-0) will look to close out the calendar year undefeated when it makes travels to New York this weekend to play three opponents in three different cities. The Mids open play Friday evening with a 5:00 pm match against #27 Hamilton College (1-3) in Clinton, N.Y. Navy will travel to Canton, N.Y. on Saturday for a 1:00 pm match against #26 St. Lawrence (2-2) before playing its final match of the weekend on Sunday at #19 Rochester (1-3) beginning at 11:00 am.

At 12-0, Navy is off to its best start since the 2015-16 season when the Mids opened the year with a 14-0 record. The 2012-13 Navy squad owns the best start to a season in program history, opening the season 15-0 en route to a 25-9 record. This year's team is just the ninth in school history to open its season with at least 12-consecutive wins (2012-13, 15-0 / 1960-61, 14-0 / 2015-16, 14-0 / 1972-73, 13-0 / 1986-87, 13-0 / 2008-09, 13-0 / 2011-12, 12-0 / 2014-15, 12-0 / 2025-26, 12-0).

Weekly Rewind
• Navy was idle last weekend, however going into the holiday break the Mids captured 9-0 wins over Bowdoin and Bates
Bowdoin
• Team captain Alexander Orr kicked the afternoon off with a 3-0 sweep over Bowdoin senior Aryan Singh at No. 3, before Avinash Uppuluri followed with a 3-0 victory of his own at No. 7 against sophomore Sachith Vissapragada.
• Matthew Kang picked up an 11-5 victory over Bowdoin's Jai Karande in the opening game only to see that advantage erased by Karande who took game two 11-6. Kang, however, regrouped and scored back-to-back 11-8 and 11-4 wins to take the match and give the Mids a 3-0 lead.
• Sitting atop the ladder, Wenqing Tang swept Bowdoin senior Liam Waldron in three games. However, the match was hard fought as Waldron pushed Wang in an 11-9, 14-12, 12-10 defeat.
• Christian Graziano, Andrew Ko and Ramsay Killinger all closed out their matches in under a minute from one another to seal the Navy victory. Graziano and Killinger swept their foes, while Ko came back from an 11-7 loss to William Maschler in the opening game to win the next three games and the match.
• With the match already decided, the Mids picked up the final two wins of the match, including a 3-2 thriller by Hudson Poirier. The second-year Navy player found himself in a 2-1 deficit, but battled his way to victory with 11-8 and 11-9 victories in the fourth and fifth match against Oliver Pride at No. 9.

Bates
• Navy opened Sunday's match with Bates by winning its first-four matches by way of 3-0 decisions.
• Kang, who went four games the day before, was forced to go five games should he want to close out the team victory for the Mids. The third-year standout dropped his first-two games to freshman Rodrigo Chon Him 11-8 and 11-9. Kang was able to turn the momentum in his favor when he evened the match with 11-4 and 11-6 wins in the third and fourth. The fifth game was a back-and-forth battle that saw the more experience Kang coming out on top 14-12.
• For a second-consecutive match, Ko dropped his opening game, an 11-9 decision to Parker Davis Jr., but came back to take the match in four.
• Graziano, meanwhile, played one of the best matches of the weekend against Bates senior Ashton Monteiro. The two had countless long volleys and demonstrated tremendous sportsmanship throughout the match. Graziano bested Monteiro in four, 11-4, 6-11, 11-5, 11-5.
• Killinger and Michael Tierney Jr. claimed the Mids final two matches of the weekend, both defeating their opponents in 3-0 decision.

• Both matches marked just the second time either of the teams had played at Navy
• Navy now leads the series against Bowdoin 35-11, while narrowly leading Bates 18-14
• With a pair of wins over the weekend, Orr moved into a tie for 22nd on Navy's all-time wins leader board alongside Gavin Morrison (62-42 / 2001-05) with 62. He needs two more wins to tie Randy Beck (64-30 / 2013-17) for 21st on the list.
• Also earning milestone victories over the weekend were Killinger, who eclipsed the 40-win marker and currently sits at 41-22 all-time. Meanwhile, Kang reached 30 wins in his third season and is 30-27 all-time.

About the Opponents
Hamilton College
• Navy and Hamilton will meet for the 19th time in program history in a series that dates back to 1989
• The Mids own a 18-0 series lead against the Continentals
• Friday evening's match will be the first time the two have played one another since Navy earned a 9-0 win on Jan. 14, 2022
• Making its first trip to Hamilton since 2012, Navy owns a 4-0 record against the Continentals on their home court

• After defeating Hobart in its opener 8-1, #27 Hamilton has lost three in a row to #14 Amherst (9-0), #11 Tufts (9-0) and #12 Williams (9-0)
• Atreyus Bhavsar (Sr / Medina, Minn.) was one of the eight players to capture wins in the opener. He owns a 17-33 record, while fellow senior Jacob Shulman (Needham, Mass.) also picked up a win for the Continentals against Hobart and stands 13-34 all-time. Shulman plays the #1 position, while Bhavsar plays #3.

St. Lawrence
• Navy and St. Lawrence have met on 11 previous occasions dating back to 2009 with the Mids holding a slight 7-4 advantage
• Seven of the 11 previously-played meetings have been played at a neutral site, while Saturday's contest will mark just the third time Navy has played at St. Lawrence. The two met in Canton, N.Y. on Feb. 2, 2013, with St. Lawrence posting a 9-0 victory, while they last met in Canton on Jan. 12, 2024, when the Mids edged the Saints 5-4 on their home court
• Navy defeated St. Lawrence a year ago (Nov. 17) with the Mids capturing a 7-2 win over the Continentals

• #26 St. Lawrence is off to a 2-2 start with wins over #29 Connecticut College (6-3) and #33 Vassar (7-2) and losses to #24 Chatham (7-2) and #25 Haverford (5-4)
• The team's top-four players - Emirhan Sen (Fr / Istanbul, Turkey), Miguel Posada Villa (So / Envigado, Colombia), Patrick Walford (Sr / Toronto, Ontario) and Harrison Callaway (Sr / Port Chester, N.Y.) - lead the way with three wins apiece.

Rochester
• Meeting for the 32nd time in series history, it will mark just the third match between Navy and Rochester since 2009
• Navy owns a 25-6 series advantage, including a 7-2 mark in matches played at Rochester
• The inaugural meeting between the two programs was held Dec. 16, 1972 with Navy earning a 9-0 win at Rochester
• Rochester has won 5 in a row against the Mids - 6-3 on Feb. 2, 2008 / 7-2 at the CSA Championship on Feb. 16, 2008 / 9-0 on Jan. 31, 2009 / 8-1 on Feb. 24, 2024 / 5-4 on Feb. 1, 2025 - while Navy's last victory in the series (7-2) was on Feb. 4, 2007 at home

• #19 Rochester is slated to meet Chatham on Friday evening before playing host to the Mids on Sunday.

What's Ahead
• Navy will be off the next four weeks to focus on final exams and observe the holiday break
• The Mids will return to action Jan. 8 when it travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to play #33 Vassar. It will be the first match of a four-day Northeast trip for the Midshipmen who will also play at #17 Middlebury (Jan. 9), at #14 Amherst (Jan. 10) and at #12 Williams (Jan. 11)
