ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy intercollegiate sailing team competed in two events over the weekend, highlighted by finishing sixth at the Coed Atlantic Coast Championship.
Hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland, the field featured the top-18 teams in the country who had qualified for the championships two weeks prior in the first round of the championship series. The standings were close throughout the competition, with wind conditions making consistency nearly impossible for the majority of the fleet.
The Midshipmen tallied a solid finishes throughout the A and B Divisions, ultimately coming away with a sixth-place overall finish.
JC Hermus (Sr., Bellport, N.Y.),
Kimmie Leonard (Sr., Annapolis, Md.) and
Ryan Wahba (Fr., Severna Park, Md.) placed ninth in the A Division while
Gray Benson (Sr., Oxford, Md.) and
Fiona Lobon (Sr., Chestnut Hill, Mass.) finished fifth in the B Division.
Navy also competed at the J22 East Coast Championships, hosted in Annapolis. The Midshipmen moved quickly up the team standings on day two of the competition, finishing in the top-10 in each of the races on Sunday. Overall, the crew of

Tanner Kelly (Fr., Westerly, R.I.),
Izzy Fadullon (Fr., Annapolis, Md.) and
Hunter Anderson (So. Apollo Beach, Fla.) finished 10th in a field of 19 boats.
The Mids are set to return to action Oct. 30-31 as they travel to take part in the MAISA Fall Women's Regatta, hosted in Geneva, N.Y., and the War Memorial Regatta that will take place in Norfolk, Va.
