ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy intercollegiate sailing team competed in two events over the weekend, highlighted by a second-place finish at the Navy Spring Regatta. The Midshipmen also took part in the MAISA Spring Women's Championship, finishing fifth in the 14-team field.

At the Navy Spring Regatta, the Mids battled through tough wind conditions to steadily climb the leaderboard Saturday, culminating in taking the overall lead of the competition on the final race of the day.

However, a protest was heard onshore at the conclusion of racing and the Midshipmen were disqualified from race 7B and dropped back to third overall.

On Sunday, the Mids resumed racing by matching the effort of Stanford as the two fastest teams in the field. Navy ended up posting the lower score among the two teams on the final day of racing but was unable to overtake the Cardinal in the overall standings, finishing second with 142 points.

Fiona Lobon,
Jonah Hatt and
Ryan Wahba claimed first place in the A Division, while
Gray Benson,
Kimmie Leonard and
Colin MacGillivray were fourth in the B Division.

In its second competition of the weekend, Navy took part in the MAISA Spring Women's Championship hosted by Cornell. The Mids were dealt adverse conditions throughout the event but persevered to finish fifth overall in the 14-team field.

Izzy Fadullon finished seventh in the A Division, followed by
Evie Blauvelt,
Madeline Smith and
Maggie Schuler posting a third-place mark in the B Division.

UP NEXT
Navy will return to action April 23-24 as it participates in the George Washington Invitational and the Women's Team Race National Championship. The GW Invitational is set to be hosted in Washington, D.C., while the Women's Team Race National Championship will take place in Providence, R.I.
