Weekly Rewind
• Navy put together a 2-1 record last week, giving way to its first loss of the season, a 9-0 decision to Princeton. The Mids, however, earned a 9-0 sweep on the road against Dickinson before closing out the week with a solid 7-2 victory over #22 St. Lawrence at the Prager Family Squash Facility in Annapolis.
Dickinson
•
Matt Wang, Navy's #1 player on the ladder, earned his 60th-career victory by way of his 3-0 win over William Krizek. Wang is among just 24 players in program history to reach the 60-win milestone and the first since Michael Kacergis (65-36) and Owen Davis (60-36) reached the mark in 2020.
• Team captain
Lucas Spiro captured his 50th-career win in dramatic fashion. After falling behind 2-0, Spiro rallied to win the final three games against Aidan Ray at the #5 position to earn the 3-2 win. He capped the victory with an 11-0 win in the fifth.
• Outside of Spiro's five-gamer, Navy won its eight other matches by 3-0 scores.
Princeton and St. Lawrence
• Despite the sweep by Princeton, Navy's
Alexander Orr played a magnificent match against returning All-American Thomas Rosini. Orr took the opening game 11-9, but Rosini bounced back to take a 2-1 advantage behind 11-9 and 11-5 wins in the second and third games, respectively. Orr pushed it to a fifth game after securing a 14-12 win in the fourth to level the match at 2-2. Rosini was able to close out the victory with an 11-6 decision in the fifth game.
• In Sunday's St. Lawrence match, the two programs traded wins early in the match as Navy's
Tighe Mullarkey scored the first win over the day in three games against Miguel Posada Villa at the #6 spot.Â
• St. Lawrence pulled even when Lewis Anderson earned a 3-0 win against
Matt Wang.
• The Saints took a 2-1 lead in the match when Athrva Yadav turned in a 3-0 win against Navy newcomer
Michael Tierney Jr. at #8.
• Navy tied the match at 2-2 following another spectacular performance by
Alexander Orr at the #3 position against St. Lawrence's Alexander Scott. Orr took the match in five games, 13-11, 9-11, 11-3, 8-11, 11-3.
• Orr's win triggered a 6-0 run by the Mids to earn their ninth win of the season. In addition to Orr,
Wenqing Tang,
Matthew Kang,
Lucas Spiro,
Ramsay Killinger and
Hudson Poirier earned wins over the final 6 matches.
