LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams capped first-place team finishes at the ECAC Championship with a trio of individual event victories Sunday at Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa. Winning events on the last day of the meet were
Corinne Warriner in the women's 200 breaststroke,
Noah Robinson in the men's 200 breaststroke and
Evan O'Dea in the men's 200 fly.
The Navy women's team totaled 818 points to best the field by nearly 300 points and the men's team tallied 995 points to place first by close to 400 points.
Additionally, Navy's
Bill Roberts was named the men's coach of the year and
John Morrison was named the women's coach of the year.
The men's team has now recorded 16 ECAC titles in the 17 seasons in which it has competed at the meet, while the women's team won the championship for the third time in four seasons and the eighth time in the last 12 meets.
"This may have been one of our strongest ECAC teams in program history," said Roberts. "The guys were terrific all week long as we had several career-best times and records set. I am very proud of the effort and commitment by this program that produced the performances that took place this weekend."
"It was another great championship meet for the Navy swimming and diving programs," said Morrison. "Both teams did an awesome job. Our depth paid dividends throughout the meet with many earning scoring spots each morning and then going faster at night. We also had incredible support from our divers.
"Strong leadership and dedication to each other won the meet for us. We are extremely proud of our senior class for setting the standard for our program from day one. They led from the front both last week (at the Patriot League Championship) and this week."
