The Navy men's golf team will begin its quest for the program's eighth Patriot League title when it makes the trip to West Point, N.Y. this weekend to play in the eight-team Patriot League Championship. Hosted by Army, the three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at the West Point Golf Course (par 70). The tournament kicks off on Friday at 8:00 am with 18 holes slated for each day. Navy, meanwhile, will play the opening round alongside players from Bucknell and Colgate beginning at 9:00 am.
Visitor Access to West Point Golf Course and the Post
• The West Point Golf Course is NOT located inside a permitter that requires an access pass. However, any patrons who are 18-years or older, U.S. citizens and wish to access West Point inside the installation gates must first report to the West Point Visitor Control Center for a background check. Due to recent changes in West Point policy, foreign nationals are not permitted to enter the installation at this time.

The Patriot League Men's Golf Championship
• This is the 35th Patriot League Men's Golf Championship which dates back to 1991.
• The West Point Golf Course will serve as the host site of the Patriot League Men's Golf Championship for the sixth time (1992 Army / 1997 Fall Lehigh / 2002 Army / 2009 Bucknell / 2014 Loyola).

Patriot League Individual and Team Champion
• Each of the eight participating teams consists of six golfers, with the top four scorers in each round counting toward the team score. The final team score will be determined by totaling all completed rounds.
• The competitor with the lowest three-round score will be the crowned the Patriot League Men's Golf Championship individual medalist.
• The top six finishers receive a spot on the Patriot League Men's Golf All-Tournament Team.
• Patriot League men's golf head coaches will vote for the three major awards - player, rookie and coach of the year - at the conclusion of the championship.
• Loyola is the defending Patriot League champion after edging out Holy Cross by one stroke at the Bucknell Golf Course in Lewisburg, Pa. last season. Army has a Patriot League-best 12 titles, Navy has claimed the crown 7 times, while Loyola has collected 7 of the last 11 Patriot League team titles.
Returning All-Patriot League Finishers
• Nine of the 13 members from last season's All-Patriot League squad return to the field, including Navy's
Chip Deegan who garnered second-team honors
• There will be a new individual medalist this year with the departure of last year's winner Nolan Schuermann of Holy Cross, who defeated Quint Dingledine of Lafayette on hole one of a playoff to determine medalist honors and who would move on to the NCAA Regionals
• Gustavo Rangel (Loyola), Jack Hartman (Bucknell) and Leo Li (Colgate) return after capturing First-Team All-Patriot League recognition last spring.
• Returning second-team members include Army's Griffin Garvin, Holy Cross' Ryan Scollins, Lehigh's Jake Roth, Loyola's Eli Spaulding, Navy's
Chip Deegan and Bucknell's Patrick Pritsios.
NCAA Regionals
• The Patriot League Champion will receive the League's automatic bid to one of the six NCAA Regionals (University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. / Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, N.C. / Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas / OSU Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio / Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. / The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Ariz. ) held May 18-20.
• If the individual medalist is not part of the championship-winning team, he, too, will qualify for the NCAA Regionals.
• This has happened six times in league history, with Holy Cross' Nolan Schuermann qualifying a year ago, Army's Peter Kim qualifying in 2014 and 2017, Navy's Chris House qualified in 2013, the Black Knights' William Park qualified in 2012 and Navy's Billy Hurley accomplished the feat in 2004.
• Three regional sites will have 13 teams and 10 individuals and three will have 14 teams and five individuals.
• The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to play in the championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. (May 29-June 3).
• The 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Selection Show will be on GOLF Channel on Wednesday, May 6, at 2 p.m. ET.

• This will be Navy's 34th appearance at the Patriot League Men's Golf Championship after joining the league in 1992.
• Navy has claimed the tournament title seven times (F-1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2012, 2018).
• Navy has crowned an individual medalist eight times (1997 Aaron Wright / 1998 Pete Lauder / 2000 Joel Almquist / 2003 Brian Crum / 2004 Billy Hurley / 2008 Erich Schoen / 2013 Chris House / 2018 Charlie Musto)
• Navy has also boasted the rookie of the year six times (2006 Ryan Wielgus / 2008 Ben Hayes / 2009 Peter Reilly / 2011 David Hall / 2018 Charlie Musto / 2023

• Four of the six players slated to represent Navy in this weekend's championship have previously played in the tournament, including team captain
Jack Tarzy who will make his fourth appearance at the conference tournament. As a freshman in 2023, he tied for 18th with a 16-over par 232, while in 2024 he finished just a stroke out of the lead with a 3-over par 219 to tie for 2nd and garner First-Team All-Patriot League honors. Last year, he tied for 27th with a 10-over part 220.
• This will also be the fourth appearance for
Chip Deegan, who was voted the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2023. He place 23rd with an 18-over par 234 in his first appearance and followed up with a 13-over par 229 to tie for 21st as a sophomore. Last year, he garnered Second-Team All-Patriot League honors by tying for 12th with a 4-over par 214.

Ed Scott made their first appearance at the tournament a year ago. Auffant tied for 24th with a 9-over par 219, while Scott finished in a tie for 34th with 12-over par 222
• Heading into the tournament,
Chip Deegan owns the team's low average of 71.90 among the 10 tournaments in which he has competed, and has placed among the top 5 in four of those competitions (2nd, Commander-In-Chief's Cup / 4th, Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate / 3rd, Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate / 2nd, Wildcat Invitational)
• Meanwhile,
Jack Tarzy owns a 72.38 average in 10 tournaments this year, winning a remarkable four events over the course of the academic year.
• In addition to his win at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate this spring, Tarzy won three-consecutive tournaments during the fall campaign, taking medalist honors at The Goat, the Commander-In-Chief's Cup and the Nassau Intercollegiate. The four wins by Tarzy this year are the most by a Navy golfer in a season since Billy Hurley won 6 tournaments his senior year in 2003-04.
