Looking Back
• Anchored by No. 1 player
Wenqing Tang's 4-0 record, the 15th-ranked Navy squash team (17-2) split its four matches to open the second half of the season last weekend. The Mids played four matches over the course of four days in three different states. Navy opened action on the 8th, sweeping #33 Vassar (2-8) 9-0 to officially break the school record for the best start to a season at 16-0. The Mids extended their winning streak a day later with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over #17 Middlebury (2-3) and snapping a five-match skid against the Panthers. Navy was tripped up for the first time this season when #14 Amherst (3-0) narrowly defeated the Mids 5-4 on the 10th before Navy again fell short to #12 Williams (3-3) 8-1 in the finale.
The school record for the best start to a season was previously held by the 2012-13 squad who opened its year 15-0 en route to a 25-9 final record. The 2025-26 squad tied that record with its 7-2 win over #19 Rochester prior to the holiday break, setting up the opportunity this past Thursday to take sole possession of the record.
---------
• Fourteen different players saw action on the nine-man ladder over the four-day road trip with five of the 14 earning at least two wins.
• Tang won three of his four matches by 3-0 marks this past week, however, Williams' Nick Agger pushed Tang to five games in Sunday's finale. After winning the opening game 11-4, Tang lost two in a row and was forced to rally with 11-7 and 11-9 wins in the fourth and fifth games, respectively.
•
Christian Graziano,
Alexander Orr and
Ramsay Killinger put together 2-2 marks, while
Johan Hodgson turned in a 2-1 record over the weekend.
•
Tighe Mullarkey made his first appearance of the season after dealing with an injury for the last several months. He came up with a 3-0 victory over Vassar's Gabriel Lugo at the No. 6 position, while also playing two exhibition matches.
•
Eli Levy,
Sean Wu and
Holden Woodward also earned the opportunity to play and win against their Vassar opponents in what was their lone match of the weekend.
Streaks
• Winston Tang owns a 21-match winning streak dating back to last season. He closed out 2024-25 by winning his final five matches and is 16-0 this season. He stands 40-4 in just his second year at the Academy.
Milestone Watch
•
Alexander Orr owns a 67-37 record over four seasons and is tied with Scott Hackman (2002-06) and Bill Kacergis (2012-16) for 15th on the Mids' all-time wins list. Additionally, he is just three wins from becoming only the 13th player in school history to reach the 70-win milestone.
•
Ramsay Killinger, meanwhile, continues to push towards the 50-win mark for his career, as he stands 46-24. He needs four wins to become the 40th player in program history to reach 50 wins. That milestone marker also holds true for
Tighe Mullarkey who has posted a 46-23 mark.
Osborne Reaches 100
• Eighth-year Navy head coach
Tyler Osborne earned his 100th collegiate victory on Dec. 7 with the 7-2 win over Rochester.
• Osborne, who became the seventh head coach in program history in the summer of 2018, is fourth Navy squash coach to reach the century mark in the wins column, joining Craig Dawson (365-154 / 2001-18), Dave Brown (267-117 / 1982-96) and Art Potter (267-62 / 1951-77).
• Osborne owns a 102-83 (.551) record heading into Sunday's match
About the Opponents

• Navy and Tufts will meet for the 33rd time with the Mids controlling the series 32-0.
• The inaugural meeting between the two programs was held Dec. 4, 1975 with the Mids earning an 8-1 victory.
• Sunday's match will mark the first time the two teams have met in Annapolis. In fact, 26 of the 32 previously-played matches have played at a neutral site, while the remaining 6 were played at Tufts.
• This will be the first meeting between the two since they met in the 2022 College Squash Association Team Championship in Philadelphia where Navy claimed a 5-4 victory. This is the first regular-season meeting since Dec. 1, 2012, when the Mids earned an 8-1 victoryÂ

• Santiago Carrillo (So / Guadalajara, Mexico) owns a 7-3 record as the team's No. 1 player, while Nachiket Desai (Jr / Cupertino, Calif.) owns a 4-3 mark at the No. 2 spot. Rohan Valia (Sr / Redwood City, Calif.) has seen action at #2 (1-2), #3 (3-0) and #4 (1-3).
