ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy track and field team concluded its third meet of the 2022-23 indoor season on Saturday, hosting the annual Wesley A. Brown Invitational at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The meet was highlighted by nine top-10 program marks, 37 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times/marks and 14 first place finishes combined between the men's and women's teams. Leading the way were Navy's captains
Baynes Autrey and
Molly Mangan. Autrey posted the fourth-best heptathlon in Navy history, while Mangan finished .01 seconds short of tying Navy's 400m record.

Men's Recap
The men's team ended the invitational with 25 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times/marks and took first place in seven events.

In his first heptathlon competition of the season, Autrey had another historic day for Navy, finishing with 5,474 points to score the fourth most heptathlon points in Navy history. Autrey posted a qualifying time in the 60m hurdles to place first in 8.16 seconds. He also took first in the pole vault with a height of 4.67m (15' 3.75") and in the 1,000m with a time of 2:49.21. Navy's team captain took second in three events, which included an IC4A qualifying mark in the long jump at 7.07m (23' 2.5"). Autrey's numbers in the 60m hurdles, pole vault, 1,000m and long jump were all personal best.

Jacques Guillaume took first in the 400m for the second straight week, posting a qualifying time of 47.87 seconds to match his season-best time.
Jonathan Simmons posted a career best / qualifying mark in the 500m at 1:03.40 to also win the 500m for Navy.

The men's 1-mile featured 14 runners but Navy took three of the top four spots with three qualifying times.
Sam Keeny took first with a collegiate-best time of 4:04.95, while
Alex Rizzo took second at 4:08.04.
Jack Mariano crossed the finish line fourth with a new career best in 4:08.53.

Four Mids posted qualifying times in the 3,000m, led by
Brett Brady who won the event with a new best time of 8:12.60. Navy also had a qualifying time in both relay events. Simmons,

Jay Evans and Guillaume took second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:14.47 and
Luke Nester,
Joseph Domingues,
Tyler Casey and
Ben Countiss took third in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:07.34.

The field events were once again highlighted by Navy throwers
Joshua Boamah and
Collin Greene. Boamah posted a qualifying distance of 17.42m (57' 2") to place first in the shot put, while Greene ended with a qualifying mark of 18.67m (61' 3") to take the top spot in the weight throw. Greene was one of five Mids to post a qualifying distance in the weight throw.
Joe Hurt also claimed a win for Navy in the triple jump with a distance of 14.33m (47' 0.25").

Women's Recap
The Navy women finished with 12 IC4A / ECAC qualifying marks, seven victories and eight times/marks that now sit in Navy's record book.

Highlighting the women's program was Mangan who finished .01 seconds short of tying Navy's 400m record with a time of 54.80 seconds to place first. Mangan also helped Navy post a top-10 mark in the 4x400m relay. Along with
Sabrina Sutter,
Helen West and
Kylie Bedard, the squad posted a time of 3:48.01, the ninth-fastest 4x400m relay in the women's record book.

After breaking the 3,000m record last week,
Emily Boutin posted the fifth-best mile in Navy history 4:48.92 to win the 1-mile.

Ellie Abraham was a part of two top-10 marks in Navy's record book on Saturday. She took first in the 800m with the tenth-best time in program history at 2:10.86. She was also a member of one of the two distance medley relay teams that set top-10 times. Abraham,

Sophie Compton took first with the third-best time for Navy at 11:52.79. The squad of Boutin,
Mia-Claire Kezal , McKenna Brophy and
Alanna Julius took second in the invitational with the sixth-best DMR time at 11:56.20. The Mids set the two marks in the DMR despite it being the first time they've run it in a meet this season.

Molly Chapman continued her impressive senior campaign with the sixth-best long jump in Navy history, posting a distance of 5.85m (19' 2.5").

In the women's pentathlon,
Isabella Romasko took first out of 13 competitors with a total of 3,528 points, the ninth most in a pentathlon in Navy history. Romasko took second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.05 seconds, as well as the 800m with a time of 2:24.26 and long jump with a distance of 5.50m (18' 0.5").

Navy also won the shot put and weight throw events.
Jordynn Hutchinson won the shot put with an IC4A qualifying distance of 13.82m (45' 4.25"), while
Autumn Nicholas won the weight throw with a qualifying distance of 17.84m (58' 6").

Navy track and field hits the road for the first time next week when it competes in the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va. The meet begins Friday, Jan. 27 with the multi-events at 4:00 p.m. and the 5,000m at 6:00 p.m. The meet continues Saturday, Jan. 28 with running events at 9:30 a.m. and field events at 10:00 a.m.
