Track and Field Sweeps Patriot League Outdoor Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Navy men's and women's track and field teams both hoisted the Patriot League Outdoor Championship first-place trophies for the fifth-consecutive time the event has been held on Saturday at the Goodman Track and Field Complex in Bethlehem, Pa.

With the two victories, the Navy track and field / cross country teams combined to win six N-Stars and six Patriot League conference championships for the second-consecutive season.

The men's team posted 323.2 points to win its ninth-straight outdoor title and 10th all time. Navy's team score is the second best in league history behind its league-record 333 points that the team set in 2022. Additionally, Navy's score marks just the third time a team has scored 300 or more points in the meet's 32-year history.

The men's team claimed all five of the post-meet individual awards. Jacques Guillaume was named the men's track athlete of the meet following victories in the 400m (47.30) and 400m hurdles (52.09). Additionally, he helped the Mids win the 4x400m relay (3:10.79).

Joshua Boamah collected the men's field athlete-of-the-meet and highest-point-scorer honors. The junior won the shot put (17.67m / 57' 11.75") and discus (54.71m / 179' 6"). He also finished in second place in the hammer throw (66.20m (217' 2") to total 28-points scored in his three events.

Nathan Kent earned the men's rookie-of-the-meet accolade for posting a victory in the 200m (21.17) and a second-place finish in the 400m (47.81). He also helped the Mids claim the 4x400m relay championship and aid the 4x100m relay team (40.46) in its second-place finish.

Director of Track and Field / Cross Country Jamie Cook was named the men's coach of the year.

The women's team recorded 241.5 points to claim the title for the fifth-consecutive time the meet has been held. The women's victory is the seventh title in program history.

Molly Chapman earned the women's field athlete-of-the-meet award. Navy's team captain won the long jump 5.85m (19' 2.5") and broke the school record to place third in the triple jump (12.33m / 40' 5.5"). Additionally, she finished in a tie for fourth place in the high jump (1.68m / 5' 6").

Cook also took home the women's coach-of-the-year honors.

"This senior class graduates as the most successful group ever in terms of a complete program. It's significant to win every Patriot League Outdoor Championship in their time here," said Director of Track and Field / Cross Country Jamie Cook. "For us to win every single Star meet and conference title the last two years is a big deal because it helps the athletic department win the N-Star series and Presidents' Cup. This team understands that track and field is a team sport. We have some athletes that are willing to give up winning individual events to compete in multiple events to help the team score huge points. Our kids laid it out there today and it was awesome to see. Tremendous job by our coaching and support staff.

"There are so many great things to talk about at this meet. Everyone contributed in some way and the support the teams showed each other was tremendous. We want to continue to be on top of the league and win every last event."

"I've been here for 16 years and we've grown exponentially as a program over the last few years. The intensity, quality of athletes and amount of effort we put into development in a four-year period has changed drastically," said Associate Head Coach Chris Campbell. "We have a lot of higher expectations for ourselves than we used to. We have multiple athletes that have the right mindset for building a great culture. These kids are selfless enough to understand that our priorities are beating Army in dual meets and winning the conference championship. We've been able to do both of those things in a dominant fashion for two-straight seasons. The kids do a lot of great things on an individual level, but they always put the team ahead of themselves."
